Boys tend to become what they see in men around them. Men are in the essence the role models who either offer your son structure and inspiration or leave him rudderless and depressed. Boys who are motivated can become the next inventors and implemented of what they inventors (the amazons, Apples, Facebooks, Microsoft and Googles) Boys whose energies are poorly channelled can become society’s most destructive forces – ISIS, Prisoners.

Ironically as our son’s become less educated, our daughters increasingly desire partners who are more educated. We can’t be a de facto parent you must be present to raise a man out of a boy – that your primary duty as a father.

A study of the worlds male titans, captains of industry, frontiers, godfather closely reveals that each of them had a masculine figure that inspired them to become the men they became: a father figure, a biological father but by all means in their story you will trace a masculine figure that was supportive from Thomas Edison to Google Larry Brothers. They all needed a man to bring out the man from the boy in them to harness the inventor the reformer, distractor in them.

As a generation, we have a great Herculean task before us a need to redefine masculinity as the courage to think for oneself rather than cave to society pressure to avoid being called a “chicken”. Teach our sons how to feel feelings when and where to express what he feels, how to be assertive & not aggressive, the power of rationality, critical thinking and listening, that health intelligence is sometimes not a mask of strength but the strength to not have a mask. Help them find their sense of purpose. Focus on something greater than them to find fulfilment and purpose as we inoculate them that life isn\u2019t about passion but responsibility.
