No promotion in 4 yrs, all the people you trained are now your supervisors. Atimes all your peers left the company and your the only character left in the series<br><br>To add salt to the injury, you report directly to them even though you taught them the ABCs of the job.Yet, for reasons beyond your control, the system seems blind to your worth.<br><br>There is that phase that no one talks about sadly where the promotion delays out of either bogus office politics , HR staffing ( i mean there is only on HR or Markerting manager in the entire audit firm), Finance budget issues etc&#8230;it happens<br><br>You may feel stuck because you equated personal development to career development, such that stagnation in your career development causes you to feel as though you are stuck in life.<br><br>Now your heading for depression, unhappy, unsatisfied at work, grumpy with everyone even the new joiners fear you.<br><br>The two are not the same thing. Career development is a subset of your personal development.That means, if you adopt this mindset, you can never stagnate in life on any day !<br><br>I will share a tip for today to combat that phase of life.<br><br>Tip 1: Focus on growth beyond winning.<br><br>Because it is entirely possible to be winning without growing. A lawyer in a mid-sized law firm may dominate commercial litigation yet struggle with interpreting criminal law concepts .You will argue specialization but at a certain level you ought to gather skills that will accure rewards tomorrow<br><br>An auditor may excel at NGO audits a walk in the park but shed real tears when assigned a small hedge fund audit&#8230;.that should have straight forward line items <br><br>On paper, you&#8217;re winning but beneath the surface, your growth has become narrow. The danger is that success behind continuous promotions can disguise skill gaps.<br><br>Worse still is you could be winning on a filed that will be obsolete in the next 5 yrs leaving you redundant in the job market without extrapolation of what could be at the prime in the next decade of your country<br><br>And unfortunately, those gaps don&#8217;t always show up in job based performance appraisals until you&#8217;re entrusted with something outside your comfort zone then we realise that the &#8220;senior&#8221; emperor is naked ! <br><br>What they dont tell you sometimes is that the skills you build today will come in handy as an asset you accure from cashflows even when the job is long gone and done !<br><br>So don&#8217;t just chase <a href=\"http:\/\/wins.chase\/\">wins.
